The Schynige Platte Bahn climbs 1420 metres over a distance of 7.255 km on its journey from Wilderswil up to Schynige Platte, famous as one of the best vantage points in the whole region.
An impressively varied natural landscape unfolds before you on your journey: fertile forests, Alpine pastures and breathtaking views of the beautiful Bernese Oberland with Lakes Thun and Brienz.On the first part of the trip, the scene is dominated by the Alpine lowland landscape: mountain pastures, forests and lakes.
Then comes a dramatic change of scenery: an almost overwhelming view of the glistening giants of the Bernese Oberland! 
Directly opposite - the imposing peaks of the Eiger, Mönch & Jungfrau. Have your cameras ready as you leave the tunnel (5.6km.)!The Schynige Platte Bahn was opened on 14 June 1893 and electrified in 1914. Many of its carriages and locomotives first saw service on the Wengernalp Railway.
The nostalgic Schynige Platte Bahn is an authentic part of Jungfrau Railways history.
